About Us
Doron Sabag founded Sound Beach Partners in 2001 and was joined by his partner Jim Hoffman in 2005. Since inception, SBP has completed more than twenty-five new homes. Seven of these homes have been speculative developments, the balance, and the vast majority, have been custom homes for clients who have retained SBP to either design and build their homes or to simply build their homes that have been designed by others.
From the very beginning, SBP has focused on quality, details and prompt execution. While we certainly build to every taste, the focus of many of our projects has been the “new old house”, bringing the latest and best in innovation and building techniques and technology to classic and timeless designs. Our unique strength in the marketplace, and our advantage over our competitors, is the confluence of our design ability, our focus on details and quality, and our ability to execute projects efficiently and timely.
Realizing that the ultimate goal of our business is getting our clients into the homes that they envision for themselves, we are completely flexible as to how we get involved with projects. Putting our clients first, we are prepared to provide any level of service requested to ensure client satisfaction. We can design and build or we can simply build. As with every home we build, every client relationship is unique. We have no set mold for client relationships or services. The only consistent feature for every client relationship is complete transparency. All clients see all contracts with subcontractors and will see all subcontractor invoices. As a client, you will pay your costs without mark-up and a separate pre-agreed fee to SBP for coordinating your project.
In 2006, we established Sound Beach Millworks, a captive mill shop, that produces custom cabinetry. Having a captive mill shop enables SBP to control the design, quality and production schedules for clients. Clients may choose to have SBM produce cabinetry for their houses, or they may have their cabinetry built by an unrelated third party
While SBP has completed projects in New York City, the majority of SBP’s projects have been completed in Greenwich, Connecticut. In an effort to diversify the locations of its developments, SBP established two affiliated international entities in 2010 - in Israel and the Turks & Caicos Islands and has purchased land for development in those locations.
Doron and Jim did not come to homebuilding through the traditional avenues of home construction. Prior to building homes, each was a practicing attorney. Doron, a native of Israel, served in the Israeli military – going through the Navy Seal program and serving as a paratroop instructor before moving to New York City as a student. Doron earned an undergraduate degree in International Trade and Marketing from SUNY/Fashion Institute of Technology, summa cum laude, a law degree from Brooklyn Law School, and, finally, a masters degree in real estate development and investments from New York University, with distinction. Doron spent the first part of his career working in commercial banking, ultimately running the financial services portfolio for a major Japanese bank. Jim earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his law degree from the University of Notre Dame. Jim spent the first part of his career at a major national law firm in the corporate department before moving to an investment advisory firm to serve as chief operating officer and general counsel.
